EMC Youth & Families Work Post

Background information

Eastington Methodist Church is a small rural village church with an established work with families and young people. The church comes under the ministry of Rev Phil Summers and is part of the Gloucestershire Circuit. It is located 4 miles west of Stroud close to Junction 13 of the M5.

The church wants to build upon its existing work with young people and families. There is a particular emphasis and need to encourage the development of a real living faith in our Lord Jesus amongst the extensive contact base the church has within the local community. In addition to this, a large new housing estate is being built nearby and there are opportunities to reach out to the new occupants.

Funding is available for 3 years for this post.

If you have a calling to reach and disciple young people and other people, including families, please seek the Lord's will as to whether you should apply to join us in this work.

The rest of this web site provides information about the church, the position and what we are looking for.

About the Area

The church is located near Stroud in Gloucestershire and is located in the Vale of the Severn, the less hilly countryside between the edge of the Cotswold Hills and the River Severn. The city of Gloucester is about 10 miles to the north.

Stroud has a good selection of shops as does Stonehouse, which lies between Stroud and Eastington. Gloucester, about 10 miles to the north, has a large shopping centre and its historic docks whilst Cribbs Causeway to the north of Bristol, and within 30mins drive, is a major regional shopping centre complete with Mall.

There are good road and rail connections to Gloucester, London and the Midlands and lots or really good countryside to explore in the Cotswolds. Wales is within easy reach with the Brecon Beacons national park not far away and some really nice beaches on the South Wales coast making a good day out.
