The Company of Proprietors
of the Stroudwater Navigation

Welcome to the The Company of the Proprietors of the Stroudwater Navigation web pages. The Company can trace its roots back to the 1730s when an Act was passed allowing the creation of a navigation to link Stroud to the River Severn in Gloucestershire, England.  It is believed to be the oldest surviving canal company in the world.
